An initiative of Sandeep Kumar Sehgal
Sandeep is a Certified Village Level Entrepreneur under the Digital India Program and has set-up an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) based Centre, for the local community of Kolakham and nearby areas.
‘Kolakham – The Himalayan Retreat’ represents his vision and thought process. This enterprise is his retreat from corporate and metropolitan life in Rural India. Sandeep is a supporter of renewable energy and passionate about Skill Development and runs his enterprise on renewable solar energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the prestigious Panjab University, Chandigarh and is FCMA (Fellowship Certified Management Accountant) from ICWAI, Kolkatta besides holding CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) from ISACA, United States (an international professional association focused on IT governance). Sandeep founded several entrepreneurship ventures in the last few years post his early retirement from work and carry immense experience gained through working in several countries in Africa, Middle East and South East Asia.
The enterprise enables community participation and collective action for engendering social change through a bottom-up approach with key focus on the rural fellow citizens, particularly women and with a sharp focus on skill development.
We work relentlessly to build rural capacities and livelihoods by promoting rural entrepreneurship. It is an access point for delivery of various electronic services to locals, thereby contributing to development of a digitally and financially inclusive society. It is a change agent and enabler of community participation.
We work with CSC enabler banks to deliver various banking and financial services, Government to Citizens (G2C services) and Business to Citizens (B2C services).
Kolakham
Kolakham is an ideal place for the bird watchers, star gazers, travelers having inclination towards soft adventure or unwinding from the hustles and hassles of the otherwise routine city life.
It’s located on fringes of Neora Valley National Park and forms border with Sikkim (Pangolakha Wild Life Sanctuary) in North and Bhutan (Toorsa Strict Reserve) in North East. Towards south, it connects to Champamari Wildlife Sanctuary and Gorumara National Park.
